They Kill me!

They  Kill me!
They kill me mama!
These brothers of mine...
They Kill me.

I never stole a thing
I did not insult anyone
I never killed a being
Yet they kill me...
They Kill me...
These brothers of mine

I hustled with them,
I ate with them,
We  drank  away our sorrows together
Rasta, Black boy   and JB from down the township
We talked of a better tomorrow
Yet they now kill me mama...
These brothers turned foes
Friends morphed into adversaries

My Crime...
                I don’t belong.
Yet my blood is as red as theirs
My skin as black  as theirs
My struggle to improve my lot,
Just the same as the next guy on the street
Yet suddenly i don’t belong
I am an enemy  to be destroyed
A parasite to be squashed

The kicks, the stabs, the slaps....
From friends, now fiends
People who know me,
People i sold to,
People i have lived with,
They kill me...
These brothers of mine.

I am not ashamed of my background
Mozambique is where i was born
But i am a son of Africa
A Child of the world
Mama you said...we are all visitors to world,
Just given to us in trust by God

You always said ...
A healthy man must strive to better his lot ,and look after his family
I came to the rainbow nation
With hope in my heart..and a spring in my step.
At last mama..i will make you proud.
I didn’t have much learning
As you well know mama
But i have hands and a determination to work  on any task.
Mama...i have not reached...
But i was on the way to be the man you always talked about.

Tis over...
They brought me to the hospital  ,but the  foreign doctor feared for his life and never came,
I now hear the nurses whispering...
I know i will not make it.
I have lost too much blood...
I have ruptured my liver and breathing is a problem

The dreams are gone,
I will soon join you mama,
I have made my peace with God
I die mama...
Yet tis not the kicks and blows that kill me
It is knowing that i die at the hands of my brothers.

RIP EMMANUEL SITHOLE.
